RECIPE TIPS
ADD SLOE GIN
You can add 100ml of sloe Gin (we used Gordon’s) to your mulled wine as a seasonal addition.
ALCOHOL-FREE COCKTAIL
To chill, place 1 litre of cranberry juice, 1 Liter apple juice, and 1 Liter sparkling water in the refrigerator. Mix the juices with some fresh cranberries, apple slices, and sparkling water in a large bowl or jug. Serve to your guests.
What is the best wine for mixed wines?
Mulled wine can be made from any quality red wine, but Victoria Moore, our wine writer, suggests that you use an unoaked tempranillo to make it. Mulled rose wine or white wine can be made if you wish.
WHAT PERIOD WILL MULLED WINE LASTEN?
You can store leftover wine for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator if you have mulled it. You can keep it for up to 24 hours. However, if you added fruit, it is best to not leave it out more than 24 hours. Otherwise, it could ferment.
WHAT TYPES OF MULLED WINE CAN YOU SERVE?
Mulled wine should always be served in heatproof glasses, or any other containers that are heat-resistant. It doesn’t need to be at the boiling point, but let it cool down before you transfer it to glasses. Heat as needed.
